The story of Paladin Brewing in Austintown, Ohio

The Paladin Quest

The fermentation for Paladin Brewing started after John received a Mr. Beer kit from his wonderful in-laws for Christmas. Brewing beer is an algebra equation of ingredients, temperature, and timing, and this was a perfect fit for John's analytical mind. Within a short time, the idea of opening a brewery in the Youngstown / Warren Valley was bubbling. John leaped into the entrepreneur life with both feet and started researching equipment, funding, and real estate.

The location on Mahoning Ave in Austintown, Ohio, was the perfect size for the fifteen-barrel brewing system and a tasting tavern.

In 2015 just before opening Paladin Brewing in Austintown, John was diagnosed with cancer in his sinuses. His family, friends, and local community members came out to help push the project over the finish line while John recovered from the surgery. He won the battle but lost an eye and his sense of smell.

The dark days of a Paladin's quest built strength and character.

It has been years since those first struggles. The battle scars are still present, but John and his family continue on the journey to offer high-quality locally brewed beer and a family-friendly meeting place for the community.
